Welcome one and all to this year’s International Women’s Day takeover of 1BTN on Wednesday 8th March.
Now in our 5th year, we will be broadcasting for 25 hours with shows from our fabulous female and non-binary presenters with a genre-spanning selection of incredible music — sung, written, produced and remixed by women. Expect Afro beat, ambient, Balearic, breaks, cosmic, dancehall, disco, dub, electro, funk, garage, grime, hip-hop, house, indie, Italo, jazz, jungle, Latino, new wave, pop, rare groove, R&B, reggae, ska, soul, synth, techno and anything else that feels right on the night! For the 25-hour duration we will be celebrating and honouring the women who have rocked our world with the power of their music.
The theme of International Women’s Day this year is Embrace Equity.
When we embrace equity, we embrace diversity, and we embrace inclusion.
We embrace equity to forge harmony and unity, and to help drive success for all.
Equality is the goal, and equity is the means to get there.
Through the process of equity, we can reach equality.

Once again, the 1BTN International Women’s Day Takeover will be fundraising for Sussex-based charity RISE. RISE stands for Refuge, Information, Support and Education and RISE have worked since 1994 to end all forms of violence and abuse against women, their families and those identifying as LGBTQ+.
