I’ve been loitering around in the background of clubs/parties and live music since I can remember. Working in record shops in my teens and early twenties gave me a solid base and sparked an unending quest for new music.
I started a club night called Get up and Use Me at Woody’s in London in the early nineties, hosting DJs including Quinton Scott (Strut Records) Dirty Beatniks (Wall of Sound) and Eric Powell (Bush Records). I wouldn’t call myself a DJ; I play records – mainly in my front room in ‘all back to mine’ sessions and at one-off parties.
In recent years I’ve been tempted out of my front room, making appearances at We Out Here Festival, We Are The Sunset, Sundowners and The House of St. Barnabus. I also contributed to The Isolation Station during lockdown.
I’m a soul girl at heart, but open to anything from the worlds of soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, house, indie and country. As long as it’s soulful, it’s going on.
This is my first radio show, and I’m thrilled to be doing it.
